Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular patron, the library can feel like a labyrinth of shelves, rooms, and resources. But fear not—our library map is your trusted companion to help you quickly find what you need and make the most of your visit. This guide will walk you through the key sections of the map, explain how to use it effectively, and highlight important spaces to note.

Understanding the Map: Layout and Legend

The library map is designed for simplicity, with clear sections and a user-friendly legend. You’ll find a printed copy at the entrance, near the service desk, and on our website (click the “Library Map” button on the homepage). The legend uses color-coding and icons to distinguish areas:

• Blue = Quiet study zones
• Green = Collaborative spaces
• Yellow = Service/assistance areas
• Purple = Special collections (e.g., archives, rare books)
  Icons represent features like restrooms (♿ for accessibility), printers (🖨️), and water fountains (💧).

Key Sections and Their Locations

Let’s break down the main areas you’ll see on the map, from the moment you step inside:

Entrance & Service Desk (Yellow Icon)

As you enter, the service desk is straight ahead. This is your first stop for help: staff can assist with checking out books, getting a library card, answering questions, or replacing a lost item. To the left of the desk, you’ll find the “New Arrivals” shelf, featuring recently added books, movies, and magazines.

Main Reading Room (Blue Icon)

Behind the service desk, the Main Reading Room is a spacious, quiet zone with large windows and comfortable seating. It houses our general collection, including fiction, non-fiction, and bestsellers. Rows are numbered (e.g., “Aisle 1” for authors A–C, “Aisle 2” for D–F) to help you locate specific titles quickly. Tip: Look up the book’s call number online before you go—this will save you time!

Computer Lab & Tech Hub (Green Icon)

To the right of the entrance, you’ll find the Computer Lab, equipped with 20 PCs, printers, and scanners. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the library (connect to “Library_Guest”). If you need to charge your device, there are power outlets under every table and a dedicated charging station near the back wall.

Collaborative Zone (Green Icon)

Opposite the Computer Lab, the Collaborative Zone is designed for group work. It has round tables, whiteboards, and movable chairs—perfect for study groups or projects. Remember to keep voices down to avoid disturbing others in quiet areas!

Special Collections (Purple Icon)

At the far end of the hallway (near the restrooms), you’ll find the Special Collections room. This temperature-controlled space holds rare books, local archives, and historical documents. Access is restricted to protect the materials, so ask at the service desk if you’d like to view something.

There are four study rooms on the second floor (accessible via the stairs near the Main Reading Room). Rooms 201 and 202 are for quiet individual study, while Rooms 203 and 204 are for small groups (up to 6 people). Reserve a room in advance using the “Study Room Booking” kiosk on the first floor—they fill up quickly during exam season!
